As the saying goes, “Everything is bigger in Texas”, and last week’s Big Design Conference 2011 was no exception. The Onward Search Dallas Team was thrilled to attend and experience all the cutting-edge design ideas, big-name presenters and design-minded crowds this Addison, TX event had to offer.
For the third year in a row, the Big Design Conference brought together experts in design and usability from across the country to present the latest theories, research, and best practices in strategy, user experience and coding. The result was three days of intense learning and fantastic networking for anyone who works in interactive design.
The creative forces behind this event are The Dallas-Fort Worth Usability Professionals’ Association, Refresh Dallas, IXDA-Dallas, STC-Lone Star Chapter, as well as Open Camp Dallas and Ignite Dallas. With organizers like this, it’s no wonder attendees enjoyed such a valuable range of presentations that covered design, development, gaming, mobile, career development, and more.
Cristi Caram, Director, Staffing Services, and Andrea Bohnen, Director, Account Services, were impressed by the line up of great presenters including Renata Phillippi from Design By Candlelight, Brian Sullivan from Sabre-Holdings and Scrappy UX, plus Jared M. Spool (pictured below) from User Interface Engineering, who presented a very informative session on Mobile & UX about how four driving forces are increasing the visibility and value of design in organizations everywhere.
Beyond the phenomenal workshops and sessions that would benefit any design or UX career, Big D 2011 offered plenty of fun and excitement. Onward Search Dallas raffled off an Apple TV (Congrats again to Keleigh Milliorn on your big win!) during the event’s Casino Night, and the weekend wrapped up with some attendees taking a tour of the Rahr & Sons Brewing Company in Fort Worth, TX.
The Big D 2011 Conference certainly delivered this year and the Onward Search Dallas Team was proud to sponsor, exhibit and participate in such an informative and industry leading design event. If you live in the Dallas area and work (or want to work) in the interactive design, user experience, or mobile development fields, mark this event down on your calendar as must-attend. Just ask the Dallas Team! They would love to tell you all about the most happening events in the city and how you can leverage these events to boost your offline and online networking efforts and land the design job of your dreams!
