[accent]Finding and hiring the best candidates isn’t always easy or fun and it’s often just as stressful and frustrating as a job search. With this in mind, we focused our latest episode of Onward Search’s Career Cast podcast on five tips that all hiring managers should remember in order to find and secure the top talent they’re looking for.
Host Peter Clayton was joined by two members of our Executive Search team, Executive Recruiter Jamie Young and Vice President of Executive Search, Tom Hull, who have years of experience offering guidance and support to hiring managers during the recruitment process.[/accent]
Among the advice she offers, starting the hiring process with clearly defined objectives is high on Jamie’s list. She points out that it is crucial for all parties involved (hiring manager, HR department, and candidate) to be on the same page AND communicate the same information with each other right from the start. Tom advises that job seekers aren’t the only ones who need to remember to make a good impression. If a hiring manager doesn’t grab the opportunity to sell their company and the position (especially with passive Executive level candidates), or if they expect the candidate to do all the selling, they risk losing the candidate all together.
Tom and Jamie also touch on following a game plan, being straight forward and maintaining solid expectations throughout the hiring process. All this advice makes this episode a must-listen for any hiring manager, plus a valuable peek into the other side of the hiring process for job seekers.
